Conference Dinner

The conference dinner will take place on the evening of Tuesday 20th June. The chosen venue is The Mowbray.

The Mowbray is housed in an iconic building restored from 1889 and is located close to Kelham Island. Once the beating heart of industry, Kelham Island is one of Sheffield’s oldest manufacturing sites. This man made island was formed in the 1100s, when a stream was diverted to power a nearby mill. The remains of the numerous cutlery and steel works, factories and workshops is part of what gives the area its distinct charm, except nowadays, these buildings house everything from indie shopping arcades to microbreweries and galleries.

Coaches will transport us from The Edge to Kelham Island Museum for a private visit where pre-dinner drinks will be served and you will have the chance to experience life and work during the Industrial Revolution and see how industry forged the modern city.  You will also hear the roar and feel the rumble of the 425 ton, 12,000 hp River Don Engine steam engine.

It is then a short, ten minute walk, to The Mowbray for the Conference Dinner.  After dinner, we will return to The Edge via coach.
