Endcliffe Village

Location

Sheffield is located at the centre of Britain, only a few minutes away from the M1 motorway and with direct rail links to London and other major cities.

The conference will be held at The Edge, and ensuite accommodation will be based in Endcliffe Village adjacent to the conference venue.

Endcliffe Village and The Edge are items 9 and 10 on the clickable map, and are located to the south-west of the main University precinct area

The Edge

Presentations, posters and the exhibition will be held on the first floor of The Edge.
The Dining Roon (for breakfast every day, and lunch on Monday and Wednesday) is located on the ground floor.
Registration will take place on the ground floor.

Wi-fi is available throughout the complex. Connection details are available in the bedrooms.

Travelling to Sheffield

Airports
The nearest airports are Manchester, Leeds/Bradford and East Midlands. Of these, Manchester Airport has the best rail connections to Sheffield.

Direct trains at 5 minutes to the hour (approx. 75 minites travel time) - last train 22:55
Indirect trains (change at Manchester Piccadilly) at 9 minutes past each hour (approx. 90 minutes travel time) until 20:09
Manchester Airport to Sheffield - Monday 22nd
Direct trains at 5:18, 6:55, 7:53, 8:55, 9:55, 10:55 (approx. 75 minutes travel time)
Indirect trains (change at Manchester Piccadilly) at 6 minutes past each hour

Travelling from Sheffield Station to The Edge

Taxi: A taxi from Sheffield Station to the Edge will cost about £8.
Bus: The most regular bus route is the 120, which runs from Flat Street (by the bus station which is located opposite the railway station) to Fulwood Road (see map). Timetable. A bus ticket will cost about £1.80.

Travelling by car

Parking is available at Endcliffe Village. You will, however, require the following parking permit. Please print, fold and display this as instructed.


Arrival

Please check in at the main reception at The Edge. For late arrivals, there will be a porter on duty throughout the evening. If the porter is temporarily away from the reception, please call the Monitoring Station on (0114) 222 4075.

Guests can check into their rooms from 2pm on the day of arrival, and must check out before 10am on the day of departure. Luggage storage will be available if requested.

For those people arriving on Sunday evening, note that a meal will NOT be provided at Endcliffe Village on Sunday evening. However, there are many pubs and restaurants in Broomhill, (10 minute walk), including Lokanta, Thyme Cafe (but only open till 20.00 on a Sunday), and The York. Alternatively, you can catch a bus into the city centre where there is the huge range of places that you would expect in a major city (e.g., the restaurant complex in Leopold Square.

Breakfast will be available on Monday morning from 7:30-8:30.


Conference Dinner

The conference dinner will be held at The Cutlers' Hall, in the centre of Sheffield.

The Cutlers' Hall is home to The Cutlers' Company, who have supported and promoted cutlery and steel manufacturing in Sheffield for nearly four hundred years.

In the words of the Cutlers' Hall:
'It is hard to believe what lies behind the imposing entrance doors; you'll be amazed by the atmospheric world of grandeur, style and history. The Hall contains a variety of rooms, all individually decorated and each with its own decor and character.'
